A Look Back At 2011

This morning I was looking through my pictures and thought I would share a few of some of the projects that I finished since I haven't posted in forever. It was a busy year and I find the older I get the faster it goes by.

Here's just a few of my projects since I last posted.

My husband made this bowl rack and I painted and stained it.

Old cabinet before makeover....

after lots of sanding, paint and stain! Love it!!

Sewing box made from jewelry box.....

and the inside. This was a gift for my friend.

And I made several purses too........

one for nieces birthday

and one for great nieces birthday

and one for me

and a wool version for my sister (bad phone pic again)

My First Hooked Chair Mat and A Few Other Finishes

I just finished up this primitive hooked chair mat.

I am loving this rug hooking although I will have to say it doesn't come as easy for me as sewing does. This was a practice piece as I want to hook chair mats for my dining room chairs.

I made a quick little remake on this lampshade....before....

and after.....

Just strips of homespun fabric wound around the shade and knotted together to make a much more prim lampshade!

And here's a heart makedo I made from felted wool and a candlestick.

And last I found this wonderful tutorial for this sewing car caddy made from a cup holder and recycled can from Karen @ http://sewmanyways.blogspot.com/ .

I really didn't NEED a sewing car caddy especially since I live in the mountains of southwest Virginia and could never stitch while riding or I'd be sick as a dog, but this was just so cute I had to make it and I love it.

More Hexagons Finished....

893 finished......

....only 280 left to go! I've been hand stitching these 1" hexagons so I can make a throw. I usually work on these in the evenings while watching tv or when I have some free time. I'm using a tool box to store these in and this pencil case......

when I take them with me. I'm using the English Paper Piecing method I found here http://www.texasfreckles.com/2010/03/hexagon-charm-quilt-piece-along.html I'm using her printable hexagon template for my paper pieces. Can't wait til I start stitching these together!.

I finished up a few more stitcheries this week. These are more freebie pattern's from Betty at http://primitivebettys.blogspot.com/

And also Betty showed a great tutorial on these little needle punch pins and I tried that out too. I made me a little star and a willow tree pin for my jacket too.

These stitched up really fast and was fun to do. Thanks Betty for your inspiration!

A Few Finishes

Just sharing a few stitcheries I've had stitched up for awhile now and finally got around to finishing them up. I'm determined I will complete some of my UFO's before starting more!

These first two are from Betty at http://primitivebettys.blogspot.com/. I made them into pillow tucks and stuffed them with wool bits and pieces.

This one is from Char at http://charsethman.blogspot.com/ that I made into a pillow and backed it with an old quilt.

That's all for now. I still have a few I am working on and I'm still thinking on my prairie curtains I am going to make. Still debating on if I want to line them or not and if I want to use the rods I have or go with something different.

Wool Crazy Sampler Pincushion
